Many
new homes have filter grilles. These grilles must open to change
the filters. Any of our decorative grilles can be used as a filter
grille. We adapt our grilles by mounting them to a customized
filter grille door set. We cut our grille to the exact size of
a new filter grille door set, then remove the louvers from the
door, and mount our grille with screws (from the back so you can't
see the screws) to the door. The hinge and lock from the door
set are retained.
As for the filter
we provide two pieces of black mesh which turns a white, pink
or blue filter to a nice black background behind our grille. We
provide two pieces of this black mesh so that you can use one
and have a second to use when you change filters. The mesh will
get dusty and needs to be cleaned with a sponge when you remove
the old filter. This way you use one and have a clean one ready
to go when you change filters.
Finally
we also provide trim molding to go around the filter grille door
set part that is attached to the wall. The stationary part of
the door set has a hard metal edge which needs to be covered by
trim molding to complete the look. We paint the trim in the same
finish as the grille.
Since a
filter grille is complicated and requires custom work, it costs
a bit more but is well worth it. Add $65 for the filter grille
trim kit and $225 for the custom work needed to mount your grille
to the door set. Therefore add $290 to the cost of the decorative
grille that fits your filter size. The size of your replacement
filters determine the size of the decorative grille you need for
a filter grille. As an example, if your filter is 20 x 20 look
for our decorative grille part numbers that end in 20x20.
Just select one of our decorative
grilles in any of our finishes
in the size that fits your existing industrial filter grille and leave the
rest up to us.
