Summertime And The Living Is Easy!
Here's Our Easy And Beautiful Door Transformation...

Beaux-Artes Escutcheons At "The House That Faux Built".

Did you ever wonder what those fancy plates around door knobs are called? We had to learn this ourselves - they are called Escutcheons. The problem with most Escutcheons is that they come with only one choice in door knobs. So we made Beaux-Artes Escutcheons universal, designed to simply slip over the shank of an attached door knob.

Our designs, as usual, are historic reproductions of original ornamentation. They are rich in detail and relief. Plus they are so easy to install...

Just select one of our 6 styles of Escutcheons (Adam, Rococo, Tuscany, Victorian, Empire or Regency), which work great with Kwikset, Baldwin and the Schlage "Danbury" & "Andover" lines of door hardware. Escutcheons - with their beautiful historic carvings - are practical for camouflaging fingerprints around the door knob.

If you look closely, you can also see our Spanish Empire Ornament on either side of the door (above, pictures center and right). Adding the Spanish Empire Panel Tops gave this converted screened-in porch a real facelift.

Please Note: Our Escutcheons work with virtually all interior doors, but the location of the deadbolt on some exterior doors may inhibit installation. Door Escutcheons Page

Beaux-Artes Escutcheons fit over your existing door knob. We suggest that they be glued to the door using clear adhesive caulk. Secure them while the adhesive dries with blue tape (available at any hardware store) and you are done! Some of our 6 Escutcheon styles have screw holes (the Victorian, Empire, Tuscany and the Regency styles shown here), so you can use screws to hold the glued Escutcheon in place instead of the blue tape. This transformation was done for "The House That Faux Built." To the interior door we added our Rococo Escutcheon and Florentine Hinge Straps. Beaux-Artes was a sponsor, donating our products alongside paints, plasters, stencils and the imagination of over 100 artists, artisans, designers and volunteers. Proceeds from ticket sales went to Habitat For Humanity to build a house in New Orleans.

Everyone Has This Door Hinge...

As a matter of fact, this was a great step forward in the history of hinges. It is called an invisible hinge, because there are no straps visible across the front of the door. The only problem with invisible hinges is now everyone has them, hence they are boring. So Beaux-Artes has introduced the decorative Hinge Strap, evocative of days gone by.

Also, Hinge Straps are easy to install - simply glue them next to your existing hinge. Your hinges will now have a unique decorative look in a matter of minutes!

All of our products are available in over 30 finishes. Some of our most popular door hardware finishes are Metallic Silver, Pewter, Black Iron, Bronze, Rust and Oxidized Copper, plus Polished Brass, Satin Brass and Aged Brass. Hinge Straps Page
